Hello and welcome to Wealthwise

A note from the editor

Hello and welcome to Wealthwise, the new community network that exists to build constructive connections between the wealth and asset management sectors – whether that be in person at our events or online through this very website and its associated newsletters.

Investment and wealth creation are inherently long-term endeavours and, at Wealthwise, we believe intelligent coverage of the space – and the professional relationships that are forged within it – should aspire to a similar timeframe.

At a time when a lot of media coverage has the feel of somebody screaming down a well – which would perhaps make much social media coverage the equivalent of two dogs in a sack thrown over the screamer’s shoulder – Wealthwise is aiming for something rather more reasoned and less distracting. (That latter ambition, incidentally, is why we have chosen not to run any advertising on the site.)

As Wealthwise CEO Patrick Ponsford said to me the other day, the feel of the site should be “more akin to a gentle stroll along Venice’s Grand Canal than being hustled through downtown Tokyo”. Given that is rather more elegant than my well-screamer metaphor, maybe he should be writing this note.

Still, in a world seemingly ever more focused on short-term noise and quick hits and fixes, Wealthwise’s calendar of events will bring together the brightest and best of the wealth and asset management sectors to network and exchange ideas in an environment that makes the most efficient use of delegates’ and sponsors’ valuable time and resources.

At the same time this website will bring you longform interviews and features alongside insight, opinion, analysis and, who knows, maybe even some wisdom. Given our name, that should probably be another of our aims – and, of course, if you had any thoughts or suggestions on how to improve on what we are doing, please do get in touch.
